Beginning June 29 on Kingswood D flight players only will have a new fairway tee box on designated holes
which will be most of the par 4's and par 5's.
There has been some discussion about PIF. Our Board elected to begin using this for the 2015 season but only for the D Flight. In the meantime, Andy Mar and the golf maintenance staff have added the yellow marks along the paths of the par 4's and par 5's on all of the Village courses. Golfers using the PIF tees walk out from these marks and tee-it-up. The Golf Office has also computed handicaps based on these new, shorter yardages. That's the handicap our D golfers have for Monday play.
This is one action being taken around the country, and encouraged by the USGA, to help make golf more enjoyable for older, higher handicap and new golfers. The 18-Hole Women are using it for all golfers with handicaps over 35 and golfers age 80 and up. Our Board will be discussing PIF for next season.
Let's make golf fun!!!

The POA Golf Office has issued new local rules to be put into effect immediately.
Please read them carefully again! If you do not understand any of these rules, do not hesitate to ask our Rules committee members for further explanation. They are here to interpret the rules for us and are always willing to help!
1. All no mow areas (native grass) are to be treated as a lateral hazard. (Bring your ball out as close to where it went out as possible and add a stroke).
2. The no mow line is considered the hazard line in the absence of stakes.
3. Birdhouse posts painted red, white or yellow are to be treated as corresponding hazard stakes.
(Red, lateral hazard; white, out of bounds; yellow, hazard.)
4. Unmarked rock drainage is considered Ground Under Repair (GUR). (Move your ball without taking a stroke).
5. All fans are temporary immovable obstructions and relief for intervention (line of sight) as well as lie of ball, stance, and area of intended swing.
6. The natural hazard (cut bank, rock edge or water edge) is the hazard line.
7. Bridges over hazards are part of the hazard. (See page 19 of your year book.)
8. Wildflower plots and flower beds are played as GUR.
9. Should line of sight between hazard stakes intersect with the no mow area or natural hazard, the hazard will be defined by the no mow line or the natural hazard line at the point of intersect.
10. Washed out areas in traps are played as GUR. Drop ball in trap no closer to the hole.
11. Rocks in traps are considered loose impediments and can be removed.

The Golf Division has acquired a new score posting and handicap system. It is part of a national system. Our Scoring Chairman Sandy Gibbs will be providing a spreadsheet of our weekly scores to the Golf Office and the scores will be fed into the system from this spreadsheet. You will be able to see and get your 9-hole handicap any time from this website.
